Climate Justice

climate-justiceEncouraging the integration of community rights in the development and implementation of climate change mitigation and adaptation schemes in Nigeria. We work to promote community-oriented and sustainable alternatives for climate change mitigation in Nigeria.

  • We work with gas flaring impacted communities and forest dependent communities to create platforms towards ensuring that communities’ rights and livelihoods are protected in implementing carbon offset schemes in Nigeria.

Our work contributes to improving the capacity of communities to provide information about climate change impacts and strengthening adaptive capacity.

  • By projecting the experiences of coastal communities affected by ocean surge and communities in the Lake Chad basin, there is increased public understanding of the impacts of the climate change on livelihoods and conflicts in Nigeria. It is our expectation that more insight into the consequences of ongoing climate change on vulnerable communities will result in increased action on adaptation federal, state and local governments, and development organisations.
